Nick Balcombe :
Partner - SPPA FIPLA
A Fellow of the Institute of Public Loss Assessors, Nick is also the only UK claims expert who is a member of the USA’s National Association of Public Insurance Adjusters, where he holds the title of Senior Professional Public Adjuster. He has over 50 years’ experience in the industry, and specialises in negotiating complex and major claims. Previous incidents he has worked on include the earthquake in Christchurch, the September 11th attacks on the Twin Towers, and hurricanes Andrew, Gilbert and Sandy, as well as major crises in Dubai, Valencia, Madrid, Paris and Brussels. He has been involved in many working parties dedicated to improving the industry, and currently sits on the BIBA claims initiative group.
Stewart Dymant :
A forensic accountant, Stewart specialises in business interruption claims, with a particular focus on the retail sector. He has dealt with multimillion pound losses for major names, including the Arcadia Group, Liberty Stores and Sports Direct. He acted for many of the companies affected by the catastrophic explosion at the Buncefield oil depot, including global online retailer ASOS, and recently dealt with the landslides in St Lucia.
Jonathan Samuelson :
Partner - FCA
Jonathan is a chartered accountant with over 20 years’ experience. He specialises in complex business interruption and product recall claims, regularly working on behalf of multinational food and packaging groups. A member of the CII and a fellow of ICAEW, he frequently lectures for CII and other insurance industry bodies, besides running seminars and training workshops for brokers. He is a member of the steering group that produced the business interruption policy wording review published by the Chartered Institute of Loss Adjusters and the Insurance Institute of London in 2013.
Steve Allso :

Steve is based in our Birmingham office, and has more than 35 years’ experience dealing with major and complex losses, including a biochemical explosion. He has managed claims for large engineering and extruder companies, hotels, numerous rugby clubs and social clubs, and high value domestic properties, including Grade 2 Star Listed structures.
Alex Balcombe :
Alex is responsible for sales, marketing and operations at Harris Balcombe. Before joining the family business, he graduated with a BA in Business Management, worked for global advertising agency Bartle Bogle Hegerty, and alongside a senior director at AON. Alex’s clients include some of the UK's top financial institutions, hedge funds and private equity houses.
Jeremy Balcombe :
Having worked in the insurance claims market for the past 20 years, Jeremy has built up an extensive knowledge of insurance policies, warranties and all matters relating to policyholders and their claims. During this time he has concentrated on managing claims for high net worth private individuals, and medium to large commercial clients.
Alan Hintz :
Director - MRICS
After graduating, Alan worked in private practice for a number of years but has been working in the insurance claims industry for over 16 years. A chartered surveyor with vast experience in major and complex building claims of all types, his specialties include listed and historic buildings, CAR / JCT issues, and ultra-high net worth domestic claims.
Adrian Gilluly :
Director - ACII ACILA
Head of our team in Glasgow, Adrian is an associate member of both the Chartered Institute of Loss Adjusters and Chartered Insurance Institute. With over 30 years in the industry, he is a liability specialist who focuses on highly complex claims.
Mark Burke :
Mark has been negotiating and managing domestic and commercial material damage claims for over 15 years, and is a member of the Chartered Insurance Institute.
Ian Balcombe :

Ian is a member of the Chartered Insurance Institute with over 30 years’ experience in all types of commercial and domestic claims. Formerly the chairman of the London CII Young Members’ Committee, he is currently a Fellow of the Institute of Public Loss Assessors and the Royal Society of Arts.
Since graduating in 2012, Rosie has gained great experience working within the insurance industry. Rosie joined Harris Balcombe in February 2016 as a Technical Manager for our Domestic Division.
Sophie Smith :
Technical Manager - MSc LLB (Hons)
Sophie is a Technical Manager for our Domestic Division. She has a Degree in Law and Masters in Business Management. Sophie began her career in motor insurance fraud claims and then went on to handle domestic and commercial property claims for brokers and insurers.
Tony Easter :
Technical Manager - ACII FCILA MAAT
Specialising in contents, stock and business interruption claims, Tony is a chartered insurance practitioner and fellow of the Chartered Institute of Loss Adjusters with over 30 years’ experience.
Tom has been managing major losses for over 15 years, having previously worked in sales and marketing.
Brian has worked in sales and marketing for 25 years, including 10 years specialising in complex commercial claims.
Former policeman Petar has worked in sales and marketing in the industry for 17 years.
Neil comes from a military and security background with over 12 years sales experience within the construction and specification market he also has a wealth of experience in the domestic claims market.
James Brown :
Head Of Domestic Division
James has over 14 years of sales experience and was headhunted by Harris Balcombe to grow the HB domestic brand. As head of this division, he is responsible for the operations and day to day management of the team. James has wide experience of the domestic claims market and is a welcome addition to the company.
Martin comes from a Military background and has over 15 years experience in sales and marketing.
Anthony Harris :
Honorary Life President
Anthony has over 45 years of claims experience, specialising in major material damage, property and business interruption claims. He is a former president of the Institute of Public Loss Assessors, and was chairman and CEO of Harris Claims Group PLC. He had the honour of being Chief Barker of the Variety Club of Great Britain in 2005.
John Elms :
With 30 years’ experience of managing claims in the UK and around the world, John specialises in business interruption, material damage, marine and transit claims for high risk institutions.
