The Incident

A storage warehouse and production facility in south-east London has been destroyed in a major blaze that started on the 21st of January.  Up to 100 firefighters tackled the blaze at industrial units, occupied by Allied Hygiene Group, off Yarnton Way in Erith for more than three hours. Three units and three lorries were badly damaged. London Fire Brigade said it received more than 50 calls after the fire started just after 02:00 GMT.

The Harris Balcombe Response

After being instructed by the business owners the Harris Balcombe team, headed up by Stewart Dymant and Steve Allso, spent the majority of the weekend managing the site and the difficult problems that the company was faced with. It was imperative to make immediate moves to protect the customer base and significant advise was given to the policy holders before the insurance company even responded. This demonstrates the importance of the insured and brokers using HB instead of some fee scheme assessors and “adjusters” who do not operate 24/7.

The adjusters attended site on Monday afternoon and the claim is now progressing. Updates to follow…
